Consultation and Training

We can consult with individuals or groups on copyright and related intellectual property questions or concerns, big or small. We have worked on large grant proposals, and on copyright issues in student papers.

We also offer a range of workshops and trainings. Some sessions are listed on the Libraries workshop schedule. We can also put together a training for a research or working group, or visit classes by request.

We can't usually give legal advice (you'd usually need to hire your own lawyer for that), but we can offer information to help understand the legal landscape, and discuss common approaches to similar topics.

We also provide information about University copyright policies. For University of Minnesota units, we can sometimes provide a little more depth of information, and connect to General Counsel if needed.

Accessibility

We consult with individuals and groups, and provide workshops and trainings on copyright and related topics.

Some consultations can be completed via email if that is a preferred form of communication.  For discussion, we can always meet by phone, in person on the UMN campus, or via online video (with auto captions if preferred.) We can make other arrangements with a little bit of lead time.

For workshops, trainings, and online information we meet baseline accessibility standards as regular practice. However, we recognize that "standards" don't cover all needs.

Please let us know about specific accommodations at copyinfo@umn.edu, or contact lib-accessibility@umn.edu as backup.
